Essure sterilization procedure is a procedure for permanent birth control to achieve using a non-incisional surgical approach. The procedure involves placement of Essure micro-inserts through hysteroscopic guided catheters in each fallopian tube through the cervix and uterus vaginally. Introduce micro terephathalate are made of polyethylene (PET) fibers and a nickel titanium alloy, similar to other devices and technologies that have been studied and safely used in heart and neurosurgical procedures. After introducing micro are in place for a period of three months, is causing benign tissue growth in micro-inserts, blocking the fallopian tubes effectively, thus preventing pregnancy. Essure procedure is performed on an outpatient basis using local anesthetic and / or intravenous sedation, and requires no incisions and usually takes about 35 minutes to complete. Most patients are able to go home within an hour of the procedure. Typical effects are temporary muscle cramps, a disc
harge as a light menstrual flow or spotting, slight nausea or vomiting, and confusion. Usually strong pain medications required after the procedure for most women is ibuprofen. Most women who have made the procedure may return to regular activities within one to two days. Patients are required to make a follow-up assessment with a hysterosalpingram (HSG) in the three months to ensure that both the Essure micro-inserts are in the correct location and that both tubes were blocked. Patients are also advised to use another method of contraception such as birth control pills, patch or ring, or Depo Provera for at least three months after the procedure to avoid pregnancy until they enter the micro- blocked fallopian tubes. Women are also advised to use, usually the same form of contraception before the procedure to prevent pregnancy and uterine lining thin to allow easier viewing of Ostia where tubal insert placed. After confirming that the insert is positioned correctly and compl

A recently reported, three and five years of efficacy rates of 99% is a very safe method of contraception.
Essure procedure is for women who are certain they do not want any more children and who want permanent birth control. Since I Essure incorporated into my practice, I found women to be extremely satisfied with their experience, so much so that others come in requesting it. I was extremely satisfied with the safety profile and efficacy of the procedure we have dramatically decreased the number of laparoscopic sterilizations that I made last year. I hope to someday soon make it into my office.
